Xiaomi India is all set to introduce a new smartphone in the Indian market. The company has sent out media invites for an event to be held in New Delhi on September 5. Xiaomi India's Managing Director, Manu Kumar Jain, confirmed on Twitter that the brand is going to introduce its first dual camera smartphone to the Indian market, and it could be the recently launched Xiaomi Mi 5X.
Xiaomi also touts the September 5 event as a global event, meaning there' something more twist coming from. Recently, it was said that Xiaomi is working with Google for a smartphone named, Xiaomi Mi A1. The Mi A1 is said to be part of Google's Android One project. Maybe, Xiaomi will unveil the Mi A1 on September, because it's the Xiaomi Mi 5X itself, sans the MIUI 9.
All said, we don't have any conclusive info for now. But we might get details about the device ahead of the launch. Xiaomi is also touting the smartphone they're launching will have a flagship dual camera. And yes, the Mi 5X features a similar camera setup as the flagship phone Mi 6 at the back.
The Mi 5X has two 12MP sensors at the back. One sensor has an aperture of f/2.2 and captures RGB shots, while the other 12MP sensor has a telephoto lens with f/2.6 aperture. The Mi 5X features a 5MP front-facing camera. The Mi 5X will give a stiff competition to the Motorola's Moto G5S Plus smartphone launching in India tomorrow.
Other specifications of the Mi 5X include a 5.5-inch Full HD display, Snapdragon 625 SoC, 4GB of RAM, 32GB/64GB of internal storage. The storage in the phone is expandable up to 128GB with a microSD card slot.
Connectivity options in the device include 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, USB Type-C port. This entire package is backed by a 3080mAh battery and weighs 165grams. As said earlier, the Mi 5X could run MIUI 9 or be part of the Google's Android One project.
The price of the smartphone is expected to be Rs. 17,999 for the 32GB variant, and Rs. 18,999 for the 64GB option.
