WhatsApp has rolled out a new update to its iOS users which brings a couple of new features to the platform. The first and major one is the YouTube integration. Apple iPhone users can now watch YouTube videos right from WhatsApp chat screen itself. And the second one is locked recordings. With this feature, you can lock the recording, so that you can leave the record button.

WhatsApp iOS

Talking about the first feature, if someone sends you a YouTube video link and if you click it, then the video will be opened in WhatsApp chat itself, rather than opening the YouTube app separately. The best part is you can minimise the video in Picture-in-Picture (PiP) mode within WhatsApp itself and can chat with others.

The WhatsApp v2.17.81 version is already available for download on Apple App Store. “When you receive a link to a YouTube video, you can now play it right within WhatsApp. With picture-in-picture, you can also keep watching the video while you navigate to another chat”, read the Apple App Store description.

Coming to the second recording lock feature, you can lock a recording while sending. It removes the hassle for you of pressing the recording button. This feature will be useful for people who use the WhatsApp record feature frequently.

The latest update can also help you record long messages with ease. “Want to easily record long Voice Messages? When recording a Voice Message, just swipe up to lock recording so you can continue to record without keeping your finger down,” read the App Store description.

Furthermore, WhatsApp is working on new features such as WhatsApp Pay and a quick button that allows you to switch between a voice and video call. Both these features will go official in December 2017. WABetaInfo, the reliable WhatsApp leakster, cited both the features as coming soon. Also, WABetaInfo recently said that the Facebook-owned company might launch a standalone WhatsApp app for Apple iPad, but this isn’t confirmed by Apple yet.
