WhatsApp is Testing ‘Dismiss as Admin’ Button Which Removes Admin Controls

WhatsApp is now working on a new feature called 'Dismiss as Admin,' which removes admin access for a person and makes them a normal participant of the group. Currently, if you're an administrator and want to revoke administrator permissions for a fellow admin and just want to keep him as a member of the group, then you first need to remove the person from the group and add them again to the group. This process isn't a bad one, but the fellow admin will be notified as he/she was removed from the group.

WhatsApp is currently testing the feature on both Android and iOS beta versions. This feature is spotted on WhatsApp Android Beta version 2.18.12 and can be found under Group Info section. Essentially, this new 'Dismiss as Admin' feature removes admin rights for a person without removing them from the group.

As usual, this feature is spotted by WhatsApp watcher WABetaInfo. "At present, WhatsApp is developing this feature for iOS, and it will be available soon for all users, instead of for Android it is already enabled by default in the newest WhatsApp Google Play beta for Android 2.18.12," added the report.

WhatsApp is also expected to roll out more new group related features. For example, the Facebook-owned company may soon give group administrators more permissions such as restricting all the group members from sending messages to the group. Also, a new feature called 'Restricted Groups' might soon make into the official version of the app, which allows group administrators to chat with others without allowing them to send any messages.

Also, if any group member wants to reply to the message sent by admin, they have to use the Message Admin admin and send a message, which again requires the admin's approval to be posted in the group. WhatsApp is also expected to roll out other features such as WhatsApp Pay, Facebook Stickers. Recently, the instant messaging platform added 'Quick Switch' between voice and video call to the WhatsApp Android beta application.
