Amidst worries about fake news spreading and presence of sentimentally harming messages, WhatsApp has incrementally geared up its efforts towards introducing features which curb these happenings. WhatsApp has been known to launch features which check these happenings and continues to add more and more features. Last year, we saw WhatsApp launch features like the Forwarded tag which told users that a particular message had not been written by the user but instead forwarded to them from their own inbox. Another feature which was spotted after the rollout of this feature was the “frequently forwarded” tag which was present on a Beta version of WhatsApp. But, now according to the latest report, this feature has started making its way to the stable version of WhatsApp.

WhatsApp Frequently Forwarded Tags Make Way to Stable Version

Like we mentioned above, WhatsApp has said that this new feature has been brought on the Facebook-owned messaging platform to stop the spread of fake news. In its FAQ, the company has noted that the number of times a message is forwarded will remain end to end encrypted like it is the case with its messages. This new feature follows up the previous feature of “forwarded” labels which was introduced on WhatsApp earlier last year. To recall, WhatsApp has been testing the “frequently forwarded” feature for a year now, and it was spotted on the Beta version of the application back in March 2018. The report of the rollout of this new feature comes from the popular blog updating about WhatsApp, WABetaInfo.

A WhatsApp official spokesperson has said about the launch of this new feature, "We have recently introduced an update to our forwarded message label that helps people identify when they have received messages that were previously forwarded several times, such as a chain message. These highly forwarded messages will be marked with a double arrow icon and users will receive a notice when they are forwarding such a message."

WhatsApp Looking forward to Launch WhatsApp Pay in India

However, this is not it, and this is not the only feature that WhatsApp is looking forward to this year. The Facebook-owned messaging giant is also looking forward to the launch of one its more awaited service in India, that is WhatsApp Pay. The work of WhatsApp Pay has been in the making for quite some time now, but, WhatsApp Global Head Will Cathcart has said that the company plans to launch this new feature by the end of the year now. WhatsApp has been testing its payments services in India for a year now. However, it was yet to receive regulatory approval. The Supreme Court has asked the RBI to confirm WhatsApp’s compliance with the local data rules regarding its payments services. The RBI has been given six weeks to report the compliance to the SC.
