WhatsApp is expected to roll out voice calling support to WhatsApp Web very soon. This feature allows users to make and receive voice calls right from the web client itself. At the moment, WhatsApp Web users have to respond via their phone whenever a voice or video call arrives. However, that is expected to change in the future as the company has already started working the voice calling feature for WhatsApp Web.

Recently, we reported that WhatsApp would launch a Web client application for Apple iPads and new references found by WABetaInfo say that the Facebook-owned company might add WhatsApp voice calling to the iPad application. This essentially means that WhatsApp Web client will also receive the voice calling feature as the iPad app works with WhatsApp Web service itself.

Furthermore, WhatsApp has released a new WhatsApp Web application with version number 0.2.8299, up from the earlier 0.2.8000. This update brings new login page and comes with a few other bug fixes as well.

Other than that, there are some references found on the latest WhatsApp Web version hinting at the arrival of video calls to the Web version. But the publication says to consider this as a rumour, so take this news with a grain of salt.

Nevertheless, there’s no info on when WhatsApp is going to release the voice calls feature to the WhatsApp Web and the standalone application to Apple iPad. But with the company already started working on the feature, we can expect it to roll out to the beta testers very soon.

In other news, WhatsApp has finally rolled out WhatsApp Payments features for Indian users and officially became largest UPI platform in India. With WhatsApp Pay, users can make P2P transactions with ease. The WhatsApp Pay feature is currently rolling out to all the users on latest WhatsApp version in India.
