Vodafone Officially Updates RED Rs 399 Postpaid Plan With Free Outgoing Roaming Calls and 20GB Data

Vodafone India has finally updated its entry-level Rs 399 RED postpaid plan on its website. In-line with Airtel's Rs 399 postpaid plan, the Rs 399 RED postpaid plan of Vodafone also offers 20GB of free data per billing cycle and unlimited roaming calls. The same plan earlier offered 10GB data per billing cycle, and the outgoing roaming calls were charged as per standard rates. Also, with the new revision, this plan offers unlimited roaming calls without any monthly FUP like prepaid plans. However, this new plan is not available in Andhra Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Jammu & Kashmir & Bihar circles.

Besides these changes, Vodafone did not make any other changes though. The Rs 399 RED postpaid plan still doesn't offer any SMS benefits. Also, it's not offering other additional benefits such as Free ISD minutes, Magzter Subscription, Netflix, RED Shield, Device Security, Vodafone Store Services and Call Center Services. Interested customers can head over to Vodafone website or application to change the postpaid plan. But on the brighter side, this plan is eligible for the data rollover scheme.

Even though this new change is a welcome move from Vodafone to the consumers, it doesn't primarily compete with Airtel's Rs 399 plan, especially in the SMS benefits. Airtel is offering 100 SMS per day with its Rs 399 myPlan Infinity postpaid plan, which is a clear advantage.

However, Airtel is also not offering other benefits such as Amazon Prime subscription, but it does offer Airtel TV service for free. Nevertheless, we're expecting both Airtel and Vodafone to offer other premium services as well in the future to retain the user base.

As stated, this plan is available in only a few circles. In the past too, Vodafone offered some of its revised RED range of postpaid plans in select circles and not in all circles for some unknown reasons. Vodafone has also started VoLTE services in the country starting with Mumbai, Delhi-NCR and Gujarat regions. Also, expect Vodafone to scrap the daily and weekly voice calling FUP with the unlimited combo prepaid tariff plans in the future.
