Vodafone Heats Up the Competition by Adding Two Long-Validity Prepaid Plans to its Portfolio

Telecom operator Vodafone India has been introducing an array of prepaid plans in recent times and the new additions to the list are Rs 569 and Rs 511, which offer a whopping 3GB and 2GB daily data benefit. Vodafone introduced these new prepaid plans taking on Airtel’s Rs 558 prepaid plan which also provides 3GB data per day. The best part of these plans is the validity. Both the prepaid plans offer benefits for 84 days. On the other hand, Reliance Jio has two prepaid plans of Rs 509 and Rs 799 offering data benefit of 4GB and 5GB every day for 28 days. Both these prepaid plans are valid across the country, which is another good thing. Vodafone is the only operator which is currently focusing on offering both data-centric and voice-only plans to its prepaid users.

Vodafone Rs 569 and Rs 511 Prepaid Plans: Benefits and Details

Getting into the specifics, the all-new Rs 569 plan by Vodafone ships 3GB of 4G/3G data per day along with unlimited voice calls capped daily and weekly according to the FUP limit. There are also 100 SMS per day bundled in the pack. On the other hand, the Rs 511 plan gives 2GB of 4G/3G data per day combined with the usual unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS per day. The validity of both the plans is 84 days. The cap for voice calling has been set at 250 minutes per day and 1000 minutes per week for these plans.

On the whole, Vodafone India is offering 252GB of 4G/3G data at just Rs 569 for 84 days, and the Rs 511 plan gives 168GB data for 84 days. Clearly, the Rs 569 plan is a better one even as it’s priced slightly higher.

Vodafone Continues to Sell Other Prepaid Plans of Rs 549 and Rs 509

Besides these new plans, Vodafone continues to sell its other prepaid plans of Rs 549 and Rs 509, offering 3.5GB data and 1.4GB data per day for 28 days and 90 days respectively. Like other Vodafone plans, these prepaid packs also come with 100 SMS per day along with unlimited calling benefits.

Vodafone Rs 569 vs Airtel Rs 558 Prepaid Plan

On the other hand, Airtel is also offering a prepaid plan of Rs 558 which gives a user 3GB data per day, unlimited voice calls and 100 SMS per day for a period of 82 days. While Vodafone is restricting the voice calls to 250 minutes per day, Airtel doesn’t have any such FUP limit on its voice calls.

In contrast, Reliance Jio has a Rs 448 prepaid plan that offers 2GB of 4G data per day benefit for 84 days, while the Rs 498 plan gives 2GB data per day benefit for 91 days.

Aforesaid, Vodafone India is still offering the Rs 549 and Rs 509 prepaid plans, which takes on Jio’s prepaid offerings. The Rs 549 prepaid plan is currently offering 3.5GB data per day benefit while the Rs 509 plan is providing users with 1.4GB data benefit per day. The Rs 549 plan is valid for 28 days whereas the Rs 509 plan is valid for 90 days.

Vodafone Beats Jio in the Data War

With the Rs 569 plan, Vodafone India has managed to beat Reliance Jio in the data war. With this plan, Vodafone has brought down the value of per GB to just Rs 2.25 and that’s a masterstroke from the country’ second largest telecom service provider. Vodafone might remove the Rs 549 prepaid plan anytime as the Rs 569 plan has been introduced as a pan-India plan.

Hi Nikhil,

I have an iPhone X. Does anyone know if Jio works better than vodafone in Mumbai ? I am not concerned about speed, but I need a stable connection to atleast reply emails, chat and browse through some light-weight apps.

Other irritating problem with Vodafone is their constant shuffling of 2G, 3G and 4G networks. At my residence, bands keep switching from one room to another. I think it takes a toll on the battery life of my phone.

Please advise.

If you stay on western line, Airtel is working superb there since June. First test it out by taking someones Sim for a day. Jio and Vodafone not even load web pages on western line.(Bandra-Borivali).

If you are fine with speeds between 5 Mbps – 10Mbps Jio works fine. Vodafone for calling is great not so for data at the moment. Situation will improve within next three months. Vodafone is going to shut down 3G(after the deployment of band 41 all over the city) and combined with Idea s spectrum they will launch 4G on 10Mhz of band 1. I stay at Airoli/Panvel. I didn’t face any issues on Harbour line for Jio except stations. I use Redmi Note 4/Note 5,Pro/Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1. I get these speeds on Jio all day long. Even… Read more »

Hi Nikhil, Thank you for taking time to reply to my query, really appreciate it. I have a iPhone X A1865 model. I stay in Kopar Khairane and commute on the central line. I get full 3g network in my office and residence on Vodafone, but 4g gives me only 1 – 2 bars in both the locations. If vodafone is going to convert 3G sites to 4G anytime sooner, then it would work great. I think I will wait and watch. And thanks for the suggestion of using someone’s sim for a day. I will try that too.

Airtel is not good enough after Thane. Till thane from CST, it’s good enough(for whatsapp messages and web browsing).Airtel generally performs better on S7/S8/S9(compared to other phones like One Plus/Honor View 10/One plus 5T). Don’t know why. 4G is not optimised by Vodafone/Idea much as they were going to merge this year. So they just rolled out 4G for namesake. But if you compared 3G in pre Jio era,Idea and Vodafone has certainly better 3G than Airtel(my experience comes from Gujarat/Maharashtra/Mumbai/Andhra/Kerala). Now Airtel 4G is better due to no issues like merger. Vodafone will be better in Mumbai soon.

Me too @ Sachin, but if they upgrade their existing infra and add capacity then coupled with huge spectrum they hold, they can certainly give better experience. Lets see how upgrade pans out in coming months…

jio rocks in Mumbai. No other operator can give such blanket 4G network coverage in metro cities like Mumbai. Even I get JIo 4G in Fisherman’s Island where Airtel and Vodafone barely have any network
