Vodafone India today appointed Manish Dawar as the new CFO (Chief Financial Offer) for the company. Dawar will take over the position from Thomas Reisten as the CFO with effect from January 1, 2018. Based in Mumbai, Dawar will report to Sunil Sood, who is the Managing Director & CEO at Vodafone India.
Vodafone also announced that Thomas Reisten, after completing a successful 4-year stint with the company, will be moving to a new senior role within the Vodafone Group. However, the position is unknown at the moment.
Announcing this, Sunil Sood, Managing Director & CEO, Vodafone India, said, “Thomas has made an immense contribution to Vodafone’s growth in India over the last four years. We commend and thank him for his many achievements and wish him the very best as he returns to the Vodafone Group. We also warmly welcome Manish to the Vodafone family. In these exciting times, he brings a rich experience of working across multiple industries and deep understanding of all aspects of finance. He is a worthy successor to Thomas, and I look forward to a successful transition.”
Manish joins Vodafone from Den Networks Limited where he was Group CFO. He started his career with Unilever in India and subsequently moved to Reebok. He joined Reckitt Benckiser as CFO in India and went on to become the Group Controller in their Headquarters. He has subsequently held the position of President, CFO & ED for Konkola Copper Mines Plc. (subsidiary of Vedanta).
By qualification, Manish is a Chartered Accountant from ICAI and Company Secretary from ICSI, India. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce with Honors from Punjab University, Chandigarh.
A report from Economic Times states that Manish will also eventually become the CFO for the yet-to-be-merged entity of Vodafone and Idea. As per the agreement, Vodafone has the right to decide the CFO for the entity, and the report says Manish will eventually be appointed for the same role.
