Vivo Y19 is the latest smartphone under the Vivo Y series to launch in India. The Y19 has been launched for Rs 13,990 and it’s aimed at the offline market, similar to other Vivo Y series of phones. The Vivo Y19 has decent specs on board and it’s the second smartphone in the country to come with the MediaTek Helio P65 chipset, after the Vivo S1. Besides, the phone offers 4GB of RAM, Full HD+ display, triple rear camera setup, 5000mAh battery and 18W fast charging support. The Vivo Y19 seems like a rebranded version of the Vivo S1 which is also an offline-centred smartphone in the country. Also, Vivo has been selling the Vivo Y19 as Vivo Y5s in China for a while and the specs are also similar on both the phones.

Vivo Y19: Specifications and Features

Vivo is not known for launching impressive smartphones under the Y series because it’s aimed at the offline market. The Vivo Y19 does not fall in this category though because it has decent specs on board. Diving into the specifications of the newly launched Vivo Y19, it has a 6.53-inch Full HD+ display with a resolution of 1080 x 2340 pixels and 19.5:9 aspect ratio, meaning there’s a teardrop notch on top of the display that houses the selfie camera. Vivo says the Y19 offers a whopping 90.3% screen-to-body ratio. Since the phone lacks an AMOLED display, the fingerprint scanner on the Vivo Y19 is located on the rear side.

Underneath, the Vivo Y19 has the MediaTek Helio P65 chipset and it comes in a single variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. There’s a hybrid microSD card slot as well for storage expansion up to 256GB. This is the second Vivo smartphone in India to come with Helio P65 chipset after the Vivo S1 which was the first phone under the new Vivo S series. The phone comes with a gradient back, similar to most other phones launching in this segment.

The Vivo Y19 has a triple camera setup on the back, but it does not feature 48MP primary lens though. Cameras on the Vivo Y19 include a primary 16MP shooter, 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, the Y19 has a 16MP shooter that allows users to unlock the phone using AI Face Unlock feature, click selfies and attend video calls.

Connectivity options on the Vivo Y19 include Dual 4G, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS and a Micro USB port. The handset runs Android 9 Pie-based FunTouch OS 9.2 and it may receive Android 10 sometime early next year. Lastly, the Y19 has a 5000mAh battery and there’s support for 18W fast charging as well, so it’s an added advantage.

Vivo Y19: Pricing and Availability in India

The Vivo Y19 comes in a single variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage and it costs Rs 13,990. The price is on the decent side, but in the similar range, we have phones like Redmi Note 8 Pro, Redmi Note 7 Pro and Realme XT which are available even in the offline market as well, so it will be tough for Vivo to sell the Y19 in India.

The phone is already available for purchase in the country via offline stores. If you’re interested, head over to a nearest retail store to get a Vivo Y19.
