The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) had floated a consultation paper in the industry about interoperability of Set-Top Boxes so that the STBs would be usable with any DTH operator or cable TV operator regardless of where the STB was bought from. Now Trai has received comments on this consultation paper and the DTH Operators like Tata Sky, Airtel Digital TV and Reliance Jio have given their views on the Set-Top Box interoperability. The 5G Spectrum auction is going to be conducted in March 2020, however, we have our doubts about the auction’s success. One of the biggest reasons why the Spectrum Auction might not go as planned is because the telecom operators are low on cash. Also, there is the issue of insufficient spectrum with the government which might mean that the auction might not be as successful as initially thought. We discuss all of that in this video.
