Later today, if you're using WhatsApp on any of the Windows Phone 8.0 device, BlackBerry OS, and BlackBerry 10 device, it will stop working. WhatsApp, earlier this year, also ended support for Nokia Symbian S60 devices on June 30, 2017. Also, the company confirmed to end support for Nokia S40 devices on December 31, 2018, a year from now, and Android versions 2.3.7 and older devices on February 1, 2020.

WhatsApp is known for supporting older generation operating systems, but the end of support from Microsoft and BlackBerry forced WhatsApp to end the support. Furthermore, this move from WhatsApp also makes some users upgrade their smartphones to the latest ones.

Also, with this move, WhatsApp will be completely shifting its move towards Android and iOS. "This was a tough decision for us to make, but the right one in order to give people better ways to keep in touch with friends, family, and loved ones using WhatsApp," said WhatsApp in a blog post.

WhatsApp has introduced a number of new features this year, and there will be a lot of new features coming from the company next year. The known features yet-to-be-introduced by WhatsApp are Private Reply, WhatsApp Pay, Quick Switch between voice and video call, extend WhatsApp Business partnership, and so on.

In a nutshell, WhatsApp releases most of the new features to Windows Phone platform, which will be soon followed by Android and iOS. WhatsApp will be regularly releasing updates to new features Windows Phone 10 smartphones, latest Android and iOS running smartphones going forward. Are you disappointed with this move from WhatsApp?
