After a month's delay, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) today released its MySpeed app speed test data for the month of October 2017. Like it happened in the last few months, Reliance Jio leads the chart yet again. The operator is pretty close to breaking the 20 Mbps average download speed barrier, as it registered a speed of 19.3 Mbps, which is almost two times the speed of Bharti Airtel for the same month.
For some unknown reason, Trai delayed in releasing the data, and it even announced the help to be taken from the credible speed test sources Ookla to strengthen the Trai MySpeed app. However, for now, the results are out based on Trai's old methodology, and yet again Reliance Jio achieves the first spot.
As stated, Jio achieved an average 4G download speed of 19.3 Mbps, followed by Vodafone India with an average download speed of 9.1 Mbps, Idea Cellular with 8.8 Mbps, and lastly, we have Bharti Airtel with 8.6 Mbps average download speed in the same month. To recall the speeds achieved by operators in September 2017, Jio was first with 18.4 Mbps average speed, and the rest three operators download speed decreased at least by 0.3 Mbps.
The scenario is a bit different when it comes to average upload speed on 4G network. Idea Cellular, yet again, leads the list with 6.4 Mbps average upload speed, followed by Vodafone India with 5.8 Mbps speed, Reliance Jio with 4.3 Mbps speed, and lastly, Airtel achieved an average speed of 4 Mbps during the same period.
When we move to 3G average download speeds, Vodafone India stands first with 3.5 Mbps, and Airtel follows suit with 2.9 Mbps average download speed on 3G network. Idea Cellular, Aircel, and BSNL secured third, fourth, and fifth positions with an average download speed of 2.5 Mbps, 1.8 Mbps, and 1.7 Mbps respectively.
Lastly, we have the average upload speed on 3G network, in which again Vodafone leads. Vodafone India registered an average upload speed of 1.7 Mbps, which is closely followed by Idea with 1.4 Mbps speed. Airtel registered an average upload speed of 1.2 Mbps and Aircel 1.2 Mbps. BSNL is last on the list with 0.95 Mbps upload speed on 3G network, which is underwhelming.
