Lava Iris Icon, a dual-SIM Android smartphone with 5MP front-facing camera, launched in India for Rs 11,990

Lava, the budget Indian smartphone manufacturer, has just launched the Iris Icon smartphone in India for Rs. 11,990 (MRP). The device has a 5-inch HD display and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor. It is probably from the stable of MediaTek like majority of the budget smartphones.

It runs Android 4.4 KitKat even though it has been months since Google released Android 5.0 Lollipop operating system. It has a 13-megapixel rear camera with a dual-LED flash, and a 5-megapixel front camera. It comes with support for a lot of gestures, which lets users draw over the lock-screen as shortcuts to open pre-set apps. It is available from Snapdeal for Rs. 11,499 (MOP), and comes with a free selfie stick for the first 500 customers.

The smartphone is claimed to be developed at the company’s R&D centre in China instead of being a re-branded Chinese handset like majority of the handsets from Indian manufacturers.
