Telecom Namibia is significantly expanding its network infrastructure by deploying 77 new mobile base stations nationwide in the current fiscal year. This project aims to enhance network coverage, capacity, and speed, benefiting both urban and rural customers. As part of this initiative, Telecom Namibia successfully launched pilot sites in Cimbebasia and Kariba - Goreangab, the company said in a statement on Thursday.

Nationwide Expansion Initiative
Telecom Namibia noted that the Cimbebasia and Kariba sites are already activated and are currently undergoing soak testing. To support these new base stations, the company is also building backhaul fiber lines to ensure optimal high-speed connectivity to the sites.
Expanding LTE Frequencies
Telecom Namibia plans to complete the rollout of additional base stations in key locations by the end of January 2025. The operator added that the introduction of additional LTE frequencies of 700 MHz and 800 MHz will further boost data speeds and network performance.
New Base Stations Across Namibia
These sites are located in Windhoek (Eros, Cimbebasia, Khomasdal, Rocky Crest, and Golgota), as well as Mariental, Otjiwarongo, Otavi, Okahandja, Rundu, Rietfontein, Grootfontein, Swakopmund (Kramersdorf and Mondesa), Mariental, Keetmanshoop, Ondangwa, Nkurenkuru, Ohangwena, Okahao, Etayi, Omahenene, Ongwediva, Oshakati, Katima Mulilo, Dordabis, Buitepos, Mururani, Drimiopsis, Corridor POS 13, Otjimanangombe, Ovinjuru, Rooidag, Leonardville, Onguari, Epukiro, and Aminius, among other areas across the country, the official release said.
