Tata Sky has been making several changes on how it's operating right now. The DTH operator, which was last in the queue to implement the new Trai tariff mandate, is also the most preferred DTH operator by the customers, thanks to its wide-range of channel packs and excellent customer service. However, since the very beginning, Tata Sky customers were not happy with its Multi TV policy. After the new tariff mandate became fully active, Tata Sky Multi TV users started looking out for other DTH operators as they felt the tariffs for secondary connections is way too high. Last month, Tata Sky completely scrapped its Multi TV policy and introduced a new service called Tata Sky Room TV, under which the operator is providing the option to choosing separate channels compared to the primary connection. But the question in everyone's mind is what Tata Sky is charging for a Multi TV connection? Well, let's find out.
Tata Sky Multi-TV Policy Withdrawl Details and Causes
To recall, on June 15, Tata Sky scrapped its good-old Multi TV policy. This announcement means that subscribers of Tata Sky would have to pay separately for each secondary connection that they have bought instead of a discounted price for the secondary connections. Tata Sky has also said that the subscribers should toggle their channel selections to make their subscriptions more affordable after this implementation as all the connections will be billed separately. However, the separate connections would also mean that now subscribers will be able to select their channels of choice instead of going with the mirrored channels of the primary connection. While the separate channel choosing option came as handy, Tata Sky customers will have to pay standard NCF charges for every secondary connection.
Effect on Tata Sky Multi-TV Subscribers
Currently, the Tata Sky subscribers having multiple TVs in their households are enjoying better prices as compared to two or three separate connections. However, once the multi-TV policy of Tata Sky is withdrawn, it will be much costlier for the subscribers to keep multiple TVs running in their homes. Right now, the multi-TV system has set pricing brackets for the subscribers, which define how much a customer pays for the secondary TV depending on the price of the primary subscription. The secondary TV in the Tata Sky multi-TV connection also mirrors the channels of the primary connection.
The pricing brackets for the secondary Tata Sky connection have been put to rest post-June 15, and the Room TV service came into the picture as well. This means that if you keep the same channels running on your Tata Sky subscriptions, then you will be paying more than what you are paying now. This can be avoided by changing the channel choices for the multiple connections in a specific way.
Will the Removal of Tata Sky Multi TV Policy Affect the Operator?
Well, its a brave decision from Tata Sky to remove the Multi TV policy as the TV bills might go up for the consumers even more. Already, several DTH and Cable TV users are complaining about the increased TV bills after the new tariff regime. Tata Sky Multi TV users will have to choose their channel packs separately now, which is the only way they can reduce their TV bills after this new change from the company. Right now, every DTH operator in the country are providing Multi TV policy with reduced NCF charges like Rs 50 in the case of D2h and Dish TV and Rs 80 in the case of Airtel Digital TV.
