Tata Sky, the leading DTH service provider in India, has finally revealed its channel packs based on the Trai's new DTH tariff regime. This move from Tata Sky comes after a lot of fight with the government as the DTH provider wasn't convinced to shift to the new tariff regime introduced by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India. The good thing is Tata Sky also introduced region-wise channel packs which will help the consumers choose their packs with ease. According to Trai's latest tariff regime, consumers have every bit of freedom to choose their own channel packs which they're willing to watch, unlike the current situation where some channels come bundled with your package which you never watch.
Tata Sky is the Last DTH Provider to Reveal Channel Packs
The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) introduced this new pricing scheme last year and set a deadline of December 29. However, consumers sought for more time and the deadline got extended until February 1. Several other DTH and local Cable TV providers already revealed their new channel prices and packs based on Trai regime, however, it took Tata Sky more time to reveal them as the DTH provider opposed against this scheme.
Already, other DTH service providers such as Airtel Digital TV, Dish TV, D2h and Sun Direct revealed their channel packs. Tata Sky consumers were worried until now as Trai already warned that they would face a blackout if Tata Sky fails to show up with the channel packs before the February 1 deadline. That's not the case anymore as Tata Sky is now allowing users to exercise their options on its website. You can access the Tata Sky channel selection portal by heading over here. The website may not function properly as there will be a lot of consumers logging in right now, so be patient while accessing it.
Long Duration Pack Users Will Be Migrated to Monthly Packs
Tata Sky, on its website, noted as "Trai's latest Tariff Order mandates a new tariff structure to which all subscribers need to migrate. For users currently subscribed to a long duration pack, Tata Sky will migrate you to a monthly pack of your choice on/after February 1, 2019, and credit the applicable balance in your Tata Sky account as soon as you are switched to monthly packs."
To give a simple explanation, Tata Sky users who are currently on a yearly or half-yearly pack will be migrated to a monthly pack based on their choice. Later on, the DTH provider will add the remaining amount from the long duration pack to the Tata Sky account which can be used to perform recharges going forward.
As noted, Tata Sky has revealed a wide range of channel packs including region-wise plans. After opening the website, it'll ask you to log in via your registered mobile number or Subscriber ID, post which you can exercise the options.
