TRAI Tightens Norms, Now Rs.5000 fine on Telcos for Pesky Calls and SMS

In a bid to curb pesky calls from telemarketers, Indian Telecom regulator TRAI issued new rules include a fine of Rs.5000 for each complaint on a telecom operator if found that the unsolicited commercial call (UCC) or SMS was made by unregistered telemarketers using its network. Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) today said that total 22769 subscribers have been disconnected for making pesky calls or messages through individual numbers. It seems that Mobile Service Operators threw water over Heavy SMS Users who had hopes of “Tariff Reduction in SMS Pack” after the new regulation announced by TRAI which put a Daily Cap of 100 SMS in a single day.
