Trai Issues Show-Cause Notices for Call Drops to Telecom Operators

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) has served show-cause notices to some telecom operators over their inability to meet the new quality of service norms on call drops, reports ET. The carriers have been asked to respond by March 21 to present their side of arguments. More troubles for telcos: Trai likely to make call drop benchmark rate more stringent

Call drops: Trai asks telcos to focus more on 2G networks

Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai), in a technical paper analysing the call drops phenomenon, urged the Indian telcos to add towers on a war footing and bolster existing 2G networks and not merely focus on 3G to improve overall mobile coverage. Mobile tariff to move north as TRAI overturns telcos’ demand to withdraw call drop compensation order
