Telenor, partners withdraw payments bank plans

Telenor India posts huge operating loss, seeks spectrum at reasonable rates to continue operations

Telenor India has posted huge operating loss at NOK 3100 million in the first quarter, due to NOK 2.9 billion in impairment and write-down, the company said, and threatened to exit the Indian market if it fails to get spectrum at reasonable rates. Telenor India says 11% of its employees are female

Telenor said that its women employee base has increased more than 100% across functions like network operations, product development, sales and distribution and social media. The telco now has over 11% female employees, against industry average is pegged at less than 3%. The company has also focused on hiring differently-abled people. Telenor India operating loss widens in the fourth quarter

Telenor India’s operating loss widened at NOK 368 million in the fourth quarter of 2015, compared with NOK 285 million a year earlier. Telecom firm Telenor India has recorded an operating loss of NoK 373 million for the third quarter ended September 2015, as compared to NoK 195 million over the same period last year.
