GSM telecom operators install 1,29,101 base stations in four months to tackle call drops

The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) said that GSM telecom operators have set up about 1,29,101 base stations in four months, exceeding the target set by double the number. Call drops: Verdict on Trai’s compensation order likely tomorrow

The Delhi High Court is expected to pass a judgment tomorrow on petitions filed by GSM and CDMA lobby bodies challenging Trai’s order making it mandatory for telcos compensate subscribers for call drops from January onwards. Government may levy penalty on telecom companies for call drop

In another new development, government seriously considers the option to levy penalty on telecom operators for increasing call drop issues, reports Economic Times.
