The smartphone is fuelled with a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor, and the motherboard number is sdm840. This essentially means that the processor will be called as Snapdragon 840. In recent times, Qualcomm has named its processors as sdm followed by the chipset number. For example, the Snapdragon 660 has motherboard number as sdm660, while the Snapdragon 630 is termed as sdm630.

However, the fact that the chipset has four cores is a surprising one because the Snapdragon 835 one uses an octa-core architecture. That said, the Snapdragon 820 and Snapdragon 821 uses a quad-core CPU. Will this be an upgrade to the Snapdragon 821 chip? No information available at the moment.

Now coming to the benchmark listing, the device achieved a single-core score of 1782 and multi-core of 4212. Along with the Snapdragon chipset, the phone sports 4GB of RAM and it's running Android 7.1.2 Nougat.

Recently, there was a rumour citing that Samsung is working on a smaller variant of the Galaxy S8 duo, dubbed as the Galaxy S8 mini. In that report, it was revealed that Samsung would use the Snapdragon 821 chipset to power the phone, but it now looks like there's a whole new chipset in the pipeline as mentioned earlier.

The Galaxy S8 mini is said to arrive with a 5.3-inch FHD+ display, 4GB of RAM (as seen in the listing), 3000mAh battery, and the same camera setup as the Galaxy S8 duo. Besides the S8 mini, Samsung is working on the S8 Active, which will be limited to the United States.

According to the report, the Samsung Galaxy S8 Mini variant will be released ‘very soon’ in South Korea, the company’s homeland. The S8 Mini will have the same design as its bigger siblings but comes with downgraded specifications under the hood, and of course, it will carry a smaller price tag.
