Samsung is all geared up to showcase its next-generation flagship smartphones, the Galaxy S9 and S9+ at the CES 2018 show to be held in January 2018. The Galaxy S9 and S9+ are reportedly codenamed as Star 1 and Star 2, and the model numbers are SM-G960 and SM-G965. A report from Venture Beat revealed new details about the upcoming flagship smartphones from the South Korean giant.

As per the new report, the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+ will feature the same design as its predecessors and will feature the same 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch displays respectively. That said, Samsung will be using QHD+ Super AMOLED panels on both the phones, like it did last year. The Galaxy S9 and S9+ will be powered by Samsung’s own Exynos high-end chipset, whose details are scarce at the moment, but in some regions, both the phones will be launched with Snapdragon 845 SoC.

The report also says that Samsung is looking to differentiate the Galaxy S9 and S9+ in terms of more features. Last year’s Galaxy S8 and S8+ were differentiated only in the form of display and battery size, but there will be more difference between the Galaxy S9 and S9+.

The Galaxy S9 will have a single rear camera setup and just 4GB of RAM, while the Galaxy S9+ will feature dual rear cameras and 6GB of RAM. Both the devices will have 64GB internal storage in the base model, and yeah, Samsung will include a microSD card slot for storage expansion. The report also says both the Galaxy S9 and S9+ will have the 3.5mm headphone jack.

Yesterday, we reported a render of the Galaxy S9 which revealed the fingerprint scanner placement, and this report also says that the fingerprint scanner will be placed below the rear camera. Also, Samsung will be adding AKG stereo speakers, finally.

Samsung will also be introducing a new DeX docking station alongside these phones. The pricing of the Galaxy S9 and S9+ is unknown at the moment. Samsung will first showcase both the phones at the CES 2018 event, but the actual launch of the smartphones will take place at an event in March 2018, like the Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ launch.
