Samsung launched its latest flagships the Galaxy S9 and S9+ in India last month. The South Korean giant has now announced new Burgundy Red version of its last year’s flagship Galaxy S8. Samsung India has also slashed the prices of S8 series with the Galaxy S8 64GB starting at Rs 49,990. The company in partnership with Paytm is also offering a cashback of Rs 10,000. This effectively brings down the price of the Galaxy S8 as low as Rs 39,990. With the exciting deal grabbing the Galaxy S8 is a sweet deal. However, some fans might be struggling to select between the older Galaxy S8 and latest Galaxy S9. Here’s why Galaxy S8 is still a worthy choice at Rs 39,990?

Price Difference
Samsung Galaxy S8 is still one of the best Android smartphones in the market and with Paytm deal you can grab it at just Rs 39,990. That's almost as much as what the OnePlus 5T costs. The phone packs flagship grade features and has been already updated to latest Android 8.0 Oreo.

In comparison, the Samsung’s newest flagships, the Galaxy S9 and Galaxy S9+ in India are priced at Rs 57,900 and Rs 64,900. There is a huge price difference between the company’s both flagships while you get essentially get same top-end features on both.

Same Design & Display as the Galaxy S9
There aren’t many design upgrades between the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S9 phones. Both the devices feature glass and metal sandwich design and come with all front bezel-less display. For the Galaxy S9, the top and bottom bezels have been slightly reduced in size, however, but it is hardly a radical redesign. Both phones also sport a rear fingerprint sensor, though the S9 comes with the sensor now below the camera module.

In terms of the screen, the Galaxy S8 and S9 both come with 5.8-inch Super AMOLED Infinity Displays with Quad HD resolution and 18.5:9 aspect ratio. So when it comes to screen, whether buying an S8 or S9, you are getting the exact same thing.

Identical Battery as S9
The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S9 come with the same powerful battery capacities. The standard S8 and S9 come equipped with 3,000 mAh batteries, and while the Plus models pack 3,500 mAh batteries. Both the Galaxy S8 and the S9 also support wireless charging and can handle fast charging with either wired or wireless chargers.

More Colour Options
The Galaxy S8 is offered in more colour options than any of other Samsung phones or even the Galaxy S9. There are at least six different colour options available at this point including Midnight Black, Orchid Gray, Coral Blue, Arctic Silver, Maple Gold, Rose Pink and Burgundy Red.

Despite some minor improvements in terms of camera, performance and security the Galaxy S9 is almost similar to the Galaxy S8. So unless you are a hardcore camera enthusiast, buying the Galaxy S8 which is far cheaper than its latest counterpart is the right thing to do.

Competition at Rs 39,990
After the Rs 10,000 cashback, the Samsung Galaxy S8 enters the territory of the OnePlus 5T, which is retailing for Rs 32,999 for the 6GB RAM and 64GB storage option and Rs 37,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage model.

The OnePlus 6 is around the corner, but the design of the upcoming flagship killer will not match that of the Galaxy S8. If you're looking for a good looking smartphone with latest Android iteration, capable cameras, and a top-tier branding, get the Samsung Galaxy S8 at Rs 39,990.
