Captive 5G Networks
Sehgal emphasised that captive 5G networks will simplify network hardware management for enterprises, enabling autonomous operations like those seen in automated manufacturing. "With 5G, you have your captive network. Nobody from outside can enter that network," Sehgal explained, highlighting the security and operational advantages for businesses, according to the report.
Remote Healthcare PoC
The report also mentioned that Jio is conducting another PoC to explore whether a remote healthcare clinic can be integrated into a major hospital to facilitate the administration of critical care to a patient.
Jio is further exploring another PoC how a remote healthcare clinic can be integrated into a major hospital using 5G and edge computing to enable real-time critical care. This technology could allow doctors to remotely monitor and treat patients, providing advanced medical services even in remote areas.
"So a small clinic is getting integrated with a bigger hospital, the doctor is available in real time, and the patient is receiving treatment. That is an example of edge computing combined with 5G," the report quoted Sehgal as saying.

Enterprise Connectivity offered by Jio
The telecom operator currently carries nearly 8 percent of global mobile data traffic and boasts 130 million 5G users, making it the largest 5G operator outside China.
Sehgal added that Jio provides connectivity and digital services to about 80 percent of Indian enterprises.
"There are close to 1,100 Jio offices where our engineers support customers for their network requirements, as well as hardware-related requirements we have provided to them," Sehgal said, according to the report.
