In fact, every year Reliance Jio makes major announcements during its Annual General Meeting. To recall, last year in its 41st AGM, Reliance Jio announced the Reliance Jio GigaFiber fibre-to-the-home service along with its GigaTV and smart home solutions. Now, during the entire year, we have seen reports of Reliance Jio’s beta testing of GigaFiber and the likely plan options which the consumers will get. But, even then, the company hasn’t done a commercial launch of the service. However, with the 42nd Reliance Industries AGM in sight, that might change.

Reliance Jio GigaFiber Commercial Launch

In a new BSE filing, Reliance Industries Limited, the parent company of Reliance Jio has stated that it will hold its 42nd Annual General Meeting on August 12, 2019. This comes as a big announcement, as last year, Reliance Jio made some significant announcements in the country. Similar to the previous year, this year also Reliance Jio is expected to debut new services. The most prominent announcement that the users can expect from Reliance Jio in its 42nd Annual General Meeting is the commercial launch of Reliance Jio GigaFiber. In this shareholders’ meeting, we can be pretty sure that finally after a year long wait and extensive beta testing of its service, the Mukesh Ambani led telecom operator will be launching its fibre-based broadband service commercially with the plans.

The consumers waiting for the launch of this service will be able to see the plans and the pricing of the service. To recall, last year, Reliance Jio had also talked about smart home solutions and these products could be another offering which Reliance Jio might launch this year in its Annual General Meeting.

More Details About Reliance Jio GigaFiber

It is worth noting that in between the time of Reliance Jio’s 41st and 42nd Annual General Meeting, there have been many headlines related to the Reliance Jio GigaFiber service. Firstly, it was related to the location where Reliance Jio was available for the consumers, and these included the metros and few major cities totalling to 10 locations across the country.

Then, we also had a brush with the likely prices of Jio GigaFiber which were revealed to be Rs 600 per month for the 50 Mbps Triple Play plan and Rs 1,000 for the 100 Mbps plan. Lastly, we also saw the Reliance Jio GigaFiber speed slip to the third spot on the Netflix ISP Index as well. Now it remains to be seen whether or not Reliance Jio prices its fibre services as per the rumours or we will have a surprise from the telco.
