Xiaomi Redmi Y3 and the Redmi 7 are two new phones which are now getting MIUI 11 update in India. With this rollout, MIUI 11 for the first batch is now complete and even a couple of phones which are part of the second batch are even getting updated to the latest iteration of Xiaomi's custom UI. Yesterday, we have reported the MIUI 11 arrival on some of the Redmi K20 Pro units, and today, Xiaomi officially revealed that the Redmi Y3 and Redmi 7 smartphones are now receiving the same update. Notably, the Redmi Y3 and Redmi 7 were launched together back in June this year and the prices of both the smartphones were under Rs 10,000.

Xiaomi Completes MIUI 11 Update Rollout for First Batch

During the Redmi Note 8 Pro launch event on October 16, Xiaomi revealed the MIUI 11 stable update roadmap for the Indian users. As promised, the company has finished the rollout for the first batch of phones which include Poco F1, Redmi K20, Redmi Y3, Redmi 7, Redmi Note 7s, Redmi Note 7 and the Redmi Note 7 Pro. All the seven smartphones mentioned above are getting the update in a phased manner. Even the Redmi K20 Pro which is part of the second batch is receiving the update too. For the unaware, the first phase of stable MIUI 11 rollout is set to happen between October 22 and October 31.

The MIUI 11 phase 2 rollout will begin on November 4 during which phones like the Redmi 6 Pro, Redmi 6A, Redmi 6, Redmi Note 5 series, Redmi Y2, Redmi Y1 and so on will get the update. The second phase will end on November 12. In the third phase which will start on November 13, phones like the Redmi Note 6 Pro, Redmi 8A, Redmi 8, Redmi 7A and Redmi Note 8 will get the update.

Besides the Redmi K20 Pro, all the phones which are now getting the MIUI 11 update is either based on Android 9 Pie or even lower iteration of Android, depending on when Xiaomi released the smartphone.

Xiaomi Tackles Software Update Issue for the First Time

Usually, Xiaomi is not known for releasing software updates on a quick note. For example, even last year, when the MIUI 10 was released, the majority of the Xiaomi phones received the stable update after at least three months. To recall, MIUI 10 was announced back in June 2018 alongside the Redmi Y2, but the first rollout for the first batch happened in September 2018.

But this year, Xiaomi has tackled the software update issue in a much better wat. Yes, Xiaomi is still taking time to get their phones running the latest iteration of Android, but at least, the company is rolling out MIUI platform update faster. Xiaomi's flagship smartphone Redmi K20 Pro is already on Android 10 and the next phone to get the update could be Redmi K20. Several users of Redmi K20 were disappointed that Xiaomi released MIUI 11 update based on Android 9 Pie itself.

By the end of 2019, a total of 28 Xiaomi smartphones will be updated to MIUI 11, something which is not at all an easy task to achieve. Realme, despite having a very small product portfolio, will start pushing ColorOS 7.0 update based on Android 10 only in 2020. Maybe Realme is modifying ColorOS 7.0 for its smartphones which could be the reason behind the delayed rollout.

Are you a Redmi Y3 or Redmi 7 user? If yes, let us know if you have received the stable MIUI update or not. Xiaomi also confirmed that the update is rolling out in a phased manner, so only a few users will get the update on the rollout day.
