Xiaomi Redmi Note 7 Pro Now Available at Rs 9,999: Should You Wait for Note 8 Pro or Get it?

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro will be launching in India on October 16, but ahead of that, the Redmi Note 7 Pro is selling at its lowest price ever since the launch. Xiaomi's Redmi Note 7 Pro is now available at a starting price of Rs 9,999 (including discount offers) on both Mi.com and Flipkart and it's a deal you should not ignore. However, a lot of users must be in a mindset that the Note 8 Pro launch is right around the corner and does it make any sense to pick up the eight months old Redmi Note 7 Pro. Well, at the price of Rs 9,999, the Redmi Note 7 Pro is not a bad choice at all and it's still amongst the best camera phones available under Rs 15,000 in India right now. Unlike the Redmi Note 6 Pro which came as a marginal upgrade over the Note 5 Pro back then, the Note 8 Pro is a completely different smartphone when compared to the Redmi Note 7 Pro and it's not a bad thing. These days, smartphone brands are refreshing their smartphone line-up for every four-six months, but Xiaomi has refreshed the Redmi Note lineup after more than eight months.

Redmi Note 7 Pro at Rs 9,999: What Makes it Special?

When Xiaomi launched the Note 7 Pro back in February this year, it was one of the first phones to have 48MP Sony IMX586 sensor and it was the only phone under Rs 15,000 to offer the flagship camera sensor from Sony. Later on, we have seen several brands using the same sensor on their phones and we now have devices like Mi A3, Realme 5 Pro, Realme X, Vivo Z1X, Redmi K20 under Rs 20,000 providing the same camera sensor. Other highlights of the Redmi Note 7 Pro include the powerful Snapdragon 675 SoC, glass body with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on front and back, Full HD+ display with a teardrop notch, 4000mAh battery along with support for 18W fast charging and 13MP selfie camera.

When it comes to the hardware, the Note 7 Pro still packs a punch and the real-life performance is also pretty good for a phone that costs under Rs 15,000. But at Rs 9,999, the Note 7 Pro is possibly the best-specced smartphone right now. The 48MP rear-facing camera coupled with the 5MP depth sensor is capable of delivering some pretty good shots and the performance of the phone is also very reliable.

Snapdragon 675 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM is decent for even playing high-end games like PUBG Mobile, but the RAM management will not be great and you'll end up using apps from scratch all over again. The software experience is also decent as the phone runs MIUI 10 on top of Android 9 Pie and it will be first on the list to receive MIUI 11 update later this year. The phone is capable of delivering more than a day's worth of battery life with ease.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro Coming on October 16: Should You Wait?

Last week, Xiaomi India has confirmed the launch of Redmi Note 8 Pro as October 16. The company is teasing the launch of Note 8 Pro as the 'Biggest Launch of the Year,' which itself states the importance of the phone's launch. The Note 8 Pro is a major upgrade over the Redmi Note 7 Pro as it packs 64MP quad-camera setup, powerful MediaTek Helio G90T chipset, up to 8GB of RAM, a cooling system to deliver lag-free gaming experience and a 4500mAh battery is also present underneath.

However, the Redmi Note 8 Pro will not have any discount offers and it will not retail for Rs 9,999 like the current price of Redmi Note 7 Pro. That said, we're expecting the Note 8 Pro to start at Rs 13,999 in the Indian market which will make it an excellent value for money deal, considering all the high-end specs it features. Nevertheless, if your budget is around Rs 10,000, then you should consider the Redmi Note 7 Pro as it's still one of the best devices to purchase in the market right now.

The Redmi Note 7 Pro is available at Rs 9,999 on Flipkart and Mi.com and the price is including the Rs 1,000 prepaid discount and Rs 1,000 off on SBI Credit cards. The Note 7 Pro's base variant features 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, followed by other variants 6GB+64GB and 6GB+128GB, available at Rs 11,999 and Rs 12,999, respectively.
