Xiaomi Redmi 7A has finally reached the Indian market, albeit with some changes compared to the Chinese variant. The Redmi 7A succeeds the Redmi 6A which arrived with the MediaTek Helio A22 chipset. Xiaomi has upgraded the rear camera sensor on the Redmi 7A to 12MP Sony IMX486 compared to the 13MP shooter we get on the Chinese variant of the Redmi 7A. The Redmi 7A is also the first smartphone in the Redmi A series to feature an octa-core processor which is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 SoC. The Xiaomi Redmi 7A takes on the likes of the Realme C2, Samsung Galaxy M10 and Nokia 2.2. And more importantly, the Redmi 7A is backed by a 4000mAh battery. Read on to more about the pricing and availability details of the Redmi 7A.

Xiaomi Redmi 7A: Specifications and Features

Xiaomi confirmed the Redmi 7A comes in three colour options in India- Matte Blue, Matte Gold and Matte Black. The handset has a 5.45-inch HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The display size remains similar to the Redmi 6A, but the panel seems to have upgraded. Under the hood, the Redmi 7A comes powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 439 chipset which is an octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz. The phone comes in two colour options- 2GB+16GB and 2GB+32GB, much like its predecessors. In addition, there's a microSD card slot for storage expansion up to 256GB.

Xiaomi says the Redmi 7A is the first Redmi A series phone to feature splashproof design and the company even demonstrated it during the launch. As for the cameras, the Redmi 7A has a 12MP Sony IMX486 unit which is the same sensor we saw on the Mi A2 and Redmi Note 7. Up front, there's a 5MP shooter for selfies and video calls. Xiaomi also said that the company would add AI Scene Detection feature via a software update in the future. The phone also offers AI Face Unlock functionality.

Connectivity options on the handset include 4G LTE, VoLTE, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth, GPS and a Micro USB port. The company also said the Redmi 7A comes with FM Radio antenna built-in, something which we missed on the older Redmi phones. Lastly, there's a 4000mAh battery inside which is a significant upgrade compared to the 3000mAh unit we saw on the Redmi 6A. That said, it seems like the Redmi 7A lacks IR Blaster. The Redmi 7A runs Android 9 Pie-based MIUI 10 out of the box.

Xiaomi Redmi 7A: Pricing and Availability

Xiaomi launched the Redmi 7A in two variants. The Redmi 7A's base variant with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage is priced at Rs 5,999, while the variant with 2GB of RAM and 32GB of storage is priced at Rs 6,199. The pricing of the 2GB+32GB storage model is extremely attractive and will hit the competition out of the park. Xiaomi also confirmed the Redmi 7A comes with a two-year warranty.

Also, celebrating its fifth anniversary in India, Xiaomi said the Redmi 7A buyers in July would get Rs 200 off bringing the prices of the smartphone to Rs 5,799 and Rs 5,999. The handset will be available for purchase via Flipkart, Mi.com and Mi Home stores starting July 11.
