Realme launched the Realme 3 in India today. The India price of Realme 3 starts at Rs 8,999 for the base model that includes 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage. There’s a 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage model of the Realme 3 which carries a price tag of Rs 10,999. There’s no doubt that the Realme 3 is a direct competitor of the Redmi Note 7 which Xiaomi launched only last week in India alongside the Redmi Note 7 Pro. The India price of the Redmi Note 7 starts at Rs 9,999 for the base model which comes with 3GB of RAM and 32GB storage. At the launch event, Realme has announced to launch the Realme 3 Pro in the month of April this year. The company indicated that the Realme 3 Pro would compete against the Redmi Note 7 Pro. Right now let’s talk about the Realme 3 and what the phone offers to the consumers and how it compares to the Redmi Note 7 which is its biggest rival.
Design and Display
The Realme 3 comes with gradient finish while the Redmi Note 7 doesn’t. The Redmi Note 7 comes in three fancy colours including Onyx Black, Ruby Red, and Sapphire Blue. The Realme 3 also comes in three colour variants — Radiant Blue, Dynamic Black, and Classic Black. It is worth noting that the Realme 3 back cover is made of plastic while the Redmi Note 7 sports Gorilla Glass 5 on both the front and back side of the phone. For the display, the Realme 3 includes an HD+ screen while the Redmi Note 7 comes with a full HD+ display. The Redmi phone includes a 6.3-inch Full HD+ LTPS display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio while the Realme 3 sports a 6.2-inch HD+ display with a 19:9 aspect ratio.
Processor, RAM and Storage Options
The Redmi Note 7 Pro and Realme 3 look very powerful on the specs sheet. The Realme 3 is powered by a 2.1GHz octa-core Helio P70 chipset paired with up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB storage. The Redmi Note 7 is powered by 2.2GHz Snapdragon 660 AIE SoC paired with up to 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage.
Both the Redmi and Realme phones come with dual camera setup on the back panel and single camera on the front. Both the phones include waterdrop notch display which Realme calls Dewdrop and Redmi calls Dot drop. On the rear side, the Redmi Note 7 include 12MP + 5MP camera configuration while the Realme 3 includes a 13MP and 2MP setup. On the front the Redmi and Realme phones both include 13MP camera setup to click selfies.
Battery and Software
The Redmi Note 7 is backed by a 4000mAh battery with Quick Charge 4 support while the Realme 3 includes a 4230mAh battery. On the software front, the Realme 3 runs Android 9 Pie based on ColorOS 6.0 out-of-the-box while the Redmi Note 7 comes with Pie based on MIUI 10.
Price and Availability
The Redmi Note 7 3GB+32GB storage model is priced at Rs 9,999 while the 4GB+64GB storage comes for Rs 11,999. The Realme 3’s base variant with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage is priced at Rs 8,999 and the premium variant costs Rs 10,999. The Realme 3 will go on sale in India on March 12, while the Redmi Note 7 will be available on March 6.
