Sterlite Tech reports 30% jump in profit; says set to gain from 4G and Smart City project

Sterlite Technologies reported 30% year-on-year jump in its first quarter profit at Rs 40 crore, as compared to Rs 31 crore profit in the same quarter last year. The company’s revenues for the same quarter were at Rs 565 crore, against Rs 463 crore in the same quarter last year, registering an increase of 22%. NOFN Panel Estimates Budget of Broadband Net To Surpass Rs. 72,778 Crore

A committee that was set up by government to look after the NOFN project has estimated the cost of the project to hike three times more than the initial estimates. PM to inaugurate NOFN broadband under Digital India next month.

As per latest reports, National Optical Fibre Network(NOFN) under Digital India programme will be inaugurated by Prime Minister between 15-30 June. The NOFN project aims to provide high-speed broadband connectivity to 2.50 lakh gram panchayats in India by December 2016.
