India’s Broadband Base Reaches 14.68 Million, BSNL Leads

Department of Telecommunications To Slap Rs1,594 Crore Penalties On Five Mobile Firms

The Department of Telecommunications country’s telecom licensor, is to slap penalties totaling Rs 1,594 crore on five mobile phone firms for underreporting of revenues, resulting in losses to the exchequer. The notices would be send to Bharti Airtel, Idea Cellular, Vodafone India, Tata Teleservices, Tata Communications and Reliance Communications. India Telecom User Base Rise To 952.91 Million in April, BSNL Tops With 9 Million Broadband Subscribers

The number of telephone subscribers in the country rose 0.16 percent, a meagre growth compared with that of previous months, taking the total subscriber base to 952.91 million as on April 30, 2012.
