OnePlus is now rolling out OxygenOS 10.0.4 update for the OnePlus 7T and OxygenOS 10.0.3 for the OnePlus 7T Pro. While the build numbers of both the phones differ, they bring the same fixes and enhancements to the users. With the OxygenOS 10.0.4 update, OnePlus is optimising the quality of pictures shot using the selfie camera. Furthermore, the update also adds Cloud Service inside the OnePlus Gallery app and it's an India-only feature. For the unaware, OnePlus launched its Cloud service to allow users to store their files online. Also, all the OnePlus smartphone users get 50GB of extra Cloud storage free for one year. OnePlus also says it optimised the overall communication performance including network, phone calls and mobile data.
OxygenOS 10.0.4 Update for OnePlus 7T Series: What's New?
OnePlus is known for rolling out regular software updates to its smartphones. Within just two weeks of launch, the OnePlus 7T Pro is receiving its second update in the form of OxygenOS 10.0.3 and the same goes with OnePlus 7T as well. OnePlus also says the updates are being rolled out in a phased manner and only a small percentage of users will get it today. OnePlus also confirmed that it would first take feedback from the users who received the update before rolling out the update to all the users.
As for the features, the OxygenOS 10.0.4 or the OxygenOS 10.0.3 does not bring any new features to the table, but it optimises the overall performance. Going by the changelog, OnePlus has optimised the translation accuracy and overall network communication performance. I did not face any issues with either cellular or Wi-Fi connectivity on the OnePlus 7T, but OnePlus says it has optimised the network communication performance even further which is a good thing to hear. At the same time, the update also brings general bug fixes and improvements to the table.
At the OnePlus 7T launch event in India, OnePlus announced its Cloud service and it has now been integrated to the OnePlus Gallery. OnePlus will be offering free 5GB of Cloud storage to its users, but for the first one year, every OnePlus smartphone will get additional 50GB of data for free. After one year, OnePlus will release the prices of its cloud storage.
As noted, the update is being rolled out in a phased manner right now, so chances are you may not receive it right after reading this post. You can always check for the update manually by heading over to System Updates section in the Settings app.
OnePlus 7T Pro Launched: What You Need to Know
On October 10, OnePlus launched the OnePlus 7T Pro at a major event in London alongside the OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition. The 7T Pro comes as a successor to the OnePlus 7 Pro and the price of the smartphone is Rs 53,999 for the 8GB+256GB variant. The OnePlus 7T Pro McLaren Edition will retail for Rs 58,999 in the country and the first sale will take place on November 5.
Going by the specs, the OnePlus 7T Pro should not exist at all because it does not bring any major features to the table, compared to the OnePlus 7 Pro. If you're looking to purchase a OnePlus smartphone right now, then you should probably settle down with the OnePlus 7T itself because it offers everything similar to the 7T Pro, except for the curved Quad HD+ display. The OnePlus 7T pricing starts at just Rs 37,999 in India.
