The OnePlus 6T is all set to launch on October 29. Ahead of the launch of the upcoming OnePlus phone, the two-year-old phones from the company - OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T - are getting OxygenOS 5.1.6 software update along with October 2018 security patch and Idea VoLTE support in India. The latest update is bringing several features to the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T including the Project Treble support. Right now, the update is being seeded to all the OnePlus 5 and 5T users across the world, but it might take some time for the update to reach your smartphone. You can check for the update manually by heading over to System Updates section in the Settings app.
OxygenOS 5.1.6 OTA Update: Features
With the latest OxygenOS 5.1.6 software update the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T have received the support for 4G VoLTE on Idea Cellular network in India, Project Treble support, improved Bluetooth stability for phone calls. Together with the latest Oxygen OS support, the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T has the latest October 2018 Android security patch which brings bug fixes.
To recall, the support for Project Treble was spotted in the last OxygenOS Open Beta update a couple of months ago. But now, this is for the first time that OnePlus is officially rolling out the support to its phones. Project Treble programme by Google was launched last year to let Android smartphone OEMs to release the latest Android software updates to phones without any tweaks.
OxygenOS 5.1.6: How to Upgrade?
To upgrade the latest build the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T users should have upgraded to the previous version OxygenOS 5.1.5. OnePlus has noted that only users running OxygenOS 5.1.5 will be able to upgrade to the OxygenOS 5.1.6. Additionally, OnePlus has also hinted that the company is working on bringing the latest Android 9.0 Pie software update to the OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T. The company is the announcement of the availability of the latest Oxygen OS support mentioned that "a big update is on its way".
OnePlus 6 Already Received Android 9 Pie Update
The OnePlus 6 has already received the Android 9 Pie update and the upcoming OnePlus 6T will launch with the new software, the company has confirmed. The OnePlus 5 and OnePlus 5T users should ensure to connect to Wi-Fi network before upgrading to the latest build. The users should also back up all their data before installing the update. To install the update, users should head to the Setting menu, and move to the System update section.
