Oppo is trying to establish itself as a comparatively premium smartphone brand. But it would have made some sort of sense had it been priced at half of what it is currently. It is a good mid-ranger but it is way off the mark in terms of pricing. You can yourself a 16GB Nexus 5 for almost the same amount and buying the Oppo R1 at this price somehow makes just no sense. Even if it would have been priced similar to the Gionee Elife S5.5, it makes no sense to buy the Oppo R1. The Gionee Elife S5.5 comes with a slimmest body, more colour options and more powerful hardware, be it processor, screen or the camera.
