OnePlus is rolling out a new software update to the OnePlus 5 users across the globe. The OxygenOS 4.5.15 version is being rolled out by the company with some bug fixes and latest October 2017 security patch fixes. And it’s an incremental OTA update, which is currently available only for a small percentage of users. OnePlus will start the broader roll out in a few days.
If you’re a OnePlus 5 user, you can install any of the VPN application and change the location to Germany to receive the update right away. Currently, the update is not hitting the Indian OnePlus 5 units, so you can follow the VPN method to install the update.
Talking about the OxygenOS 4.5.15 OTA update, it improves the GPS performance on the OnePlus 5. OnePlus has also updated the Android security patch to October 2017, which is still not a great thing as Google has already released December 2017 security patches. OnePlus is not known for rolling out monthly security patch updates though.
That said, this update doesn’t bring any new features to the OnePlus 5, which is the reason why OnePlus is calling it as an incremental update. Here’s complete changelog of the OxygenOS 4.5.15 for the OnePlus 5.
OnePlus is consistently rolling out software updates to its smartphones. Sadly, the company is yet to roll out the Android 8.0 Oreo update to the OnePlus 5 and 5T. OnePlus 5 already received Android 8.0 Oreo update in the form of OxygenOS Open Beta and the 5T may receive the update as well in the next couple of days.
In other news, OnePlus is prepping up for the launch of the OnePlus 5T Star Wars Edition launch, which is scheduled for tomorrow. The company, just a few hours ago started offering free 10,000 tickets of Star Wars: The Last Jedi for the existing OnePlus smartphone users. The launch event of the special edition OnePlus 5T is happening in Mumbai tomorrow.
