OnePlus has finally started the roll out of its stable OxygenOS 3.1.2 update to the OnePlus X smartphone. It is Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow-based version of the OxygenOS. The update brings a variety of new features to the device along with October security patch for Android. Being an OTA update, it will gradually reach OnePlus X users. Some of the users might have already got the update notification, for others - patience is the key. The update will most likely hit a fair number of devices in the coming weeks.
The OxygenOS 3.1.2 update will bring new icon package for the OnePlus X along with an enhanced UX and wallpaper picker. It also includes a new launcher for the OnePlus X that will assist in setting up wallpaper and other display requisites. The update also brings a new setting panel on the OnePlus X, which also includes App Permission features. In the update, OnePlus has also added its in-house OnePlus Music Player and OnePlus Gallery.
A freshly designed Alert Slider settings also debut with this update, and it offers better personalisation options. As mentioned in OnePlus forums, the October security patch for comes with usual bug fixes, which helps in device performance. On its forum, OnePlus has mentioned - "Users who have installed the Facebook or Facebook Messenger App, you will need to manually give storage permission to both the apps or else it will crash while using the phone's camera."
This update would assist in making OnePlus X run smoother than ever. Even though OnePlus has planned to stop making OnePlus X, it's nice to see that the company is still taking care of the existing base. To manually check if your OnePlus X has got the update, head to Settings > About Phone > Check for updates.
In another news, OnePlus's technical lead has confirmed that Nougat is definitely coming to the OnePlus 2. And it is safe to assume that the OnePlus 3 will obviously get upgraded to Nougat too.
