When the OnePlus-Cyanogen fiasco happened, the Chinese smartphone manufacturer promised that it will roll out Android 5.0 Lollipop update for the One sometime in February 2015. Now, Cyanogen founder Steve Kondik has confirmed that OnePlus One will receive Android 5.0 Lollipop ROM next month, which will be based on CM12.

However, OnePlus One users in India won't receive the CM12 based ROM, due to Cyanogen OS's exclusivity towards Micromax's Yu. OnePlus One will receive Android 5.0 Lollipop update, which is currently being developed by OnePlus. OnePlus has already released an Alpha build of Android Lollipop ROM on its official website for enthusiasts.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 810

In other news, for those who were expecting the launch of OnePlus One's successor in the near future, there's disappointment. According to a new report from Forbes, 'OnePlus 2' will be unveiled later than some expected due to "manufacturing challenges with the Snapdragon 810". Its launch date has been postponed to Q3 2015 due to overheating problems in the Qualcomm's Snapdragon 810 chipset. The overheating issue has been on the Internet for quite some time now, and Samsung is allegedly replacing the Snapdragon 810 with its homegrown Exynos 7420 chipset for the upcoming Galaxy S6. The other devices using the Snapdragon 810 are the LG G Flex 2 and the Mi Note Pro.

The OnePlus 2 is rumoured to feature a 5.5-inch QHD display, a 64-bit octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor, 4GB of RAM, a relatively larger 3,300 mAh battery, and Android 5.0 Lollipop. OnePlus has plans to follow one-year update schedule to bring out successors to existing device(s). OnePlus is also planning to launch an entry-level smartphone with its focus towards the smartphone's physical appearance.
