OnePlus 8 series is said to go official sometime in Q2 2020, similar to the OnePlus 7 series which also made debut in May 2019. OnePlus 8 series will have two smartphones- the OnePlus 8 and the OnePlus 8 Pro, similar to the 2019 lineup of OnePlus phones. Already, we have seen the early renders of OnePlus 8 series featuring punch-hole display tech. The OnePlus 8 series may not feature any radical changes when it comes to the design, especially the OnePlus 8 Pro which will pretty much look similar to the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro smartphones. The OnePlus 8, on the other hand, will also feature a similar design as the OnePlus 8 Pro, but there will be some upgrades like this generation's OnePlus phones.

OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro to Debut in Q2 2020

OnePlus launched the 7T and 7T Pro smartphones just a month ago in India and other markets. Right after the OnePlus 7T Pro launch event in London, the OnePlus 8 Pro renders popped online suggesting the phone's design. According to tipster Max J., the OnePlus 8 series will debut sometime in Q2 2020 and we're expecting it to be in the middle of May. To recall, the OnePlus 6 was launched in June 2018, followed by the OnePlus 6T at the tail-end of October. The OnePlus 7 and 7 Pro were unveiled a month early in May 2019, followed by the OnePlus 7T at the end of September and 7T Pro in the first half of October.

So this leak may be a correct one. The OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro will be launched together in mid-May or even earlier as they will help the company gain sales in Q2 itself.

OnePlus 8 Series: What We Know So Far

Similar to the OnePlus 7 and 7T series, the OnePlus 8 series will also have two phones- the standard OnePlus 8 that will replace the OnePlus 7T and the OnePlus 8 Pro which will come as a successor to the OnePlus 7T Pro. Factory renders of both the phones are already out revealing the entire design. Firstly, let's talk about the OnePlus 8; Going by the leaked renders, the OnePlus 8 will look a lot like the OnePlus 7 Pro from the rear side. To the front, the phone will feature a punch-hole display that houses the front-facing camera. To the back, the OnePlus 8 will ditch the circular camera array we saw on the OnePlus 7T and it has three vertically stacked cameras like the OnePlus 7 Pro.

As for the OnePlus 8 Pro, it will not be radically from the OnePlus 7T Pro. The phone will feature a punch-hole curved display like the OnePlus 7 Pro and 7T Pro, and there will not be any pop-up selfie camera this time around. The cameras on the rear side will be vertically stacked and we may see a quad-camera setup on the OnePlus 8 Pro.

Other specs of the OnePlus 8 series include at least 90Hz refresh rate screens, Snapdragon 865 flagship chipset, slightly bigger batteries and much-improved camera setup. The OnePlus 7T is a major upgrade to the OnePlus 7, but the OnePlus 8 will be a minor upgrade to the 7T, at least going by the looks and camera setup. The OnePlus 8 Pro is expected to be a substantial upgrade to the OnePlus 7T Pro as the latter is a very minor upgrade to the OnePlus 7 Pro.
