OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro smartphones are now getting a new Android 10 beta update in the form of OxygenOS Open Beta 2. The update does not bring any new features to the table, instead, it comes with bug fixes which existed in the Open Beta 1. For the unaware, right on the day of Android 10 launch, OnePlus released a beta update to its OnePlus 7 series which users have to install it manually by sideloading the update. The company is now pushing the second beta version which brings stability improvements, fixes SystemUI crashes, among others. The update is already rolling out to both the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro users who're currently on the OxygenOS Open Beta 1 based on Android 10.

OxygenOS Open Beta 2 for OnePlus 7 Series: What's New?

As noted, OnePlus did not add anything new to both the smartphones, but the company has fixed various issues which were present on the Open Beta 1 ROM. Firstly, the Chinese company has fixed general bugs and improved the overall system stability. The update also fixes the crash issue with SystemUI caused by parallel WhatsApp app; It also fixed the dark screen issue on the lock screen while accessing games.

Other fixes include status bar not displaying UI elements, the crash issue with default OnePlus gestures, the crash issue with fingerprint unlock and it also optimised the animation effect when notification bar is being scrolled upwards. Lastly, the Open Beta 2 brings a re-designed Wi-Fi icon in Quick Settings.

The OxygenOS Open Beta 2 is currently rolling out to the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro users. For the OnePlus 7 users, the OTA update weighs around 124MB in size.

Do make a note that the OTA update is available only for users who installed the OxygenOS Open Beta 1 on their OnePlus 7 or OnePlus 7 Pro. For the new users looking to install the Open Beta ROM based on Android 10, they will have to download the ROM first on OnePlus Forums.

OnePlus 7T Could Be the First Phone to Boot Android 10 Out of the Box

In other news, OnePlus will be launching the OnePlus 7T in India on September 26 and the new phone is expected to ship with Android 10 out of the box. This essentially means the OnePlus 7T will be the first phone to boot the latest iteration of Android out of the box, beating the Google Pixel 4 series. Google announced the Pixel 4 devices would be launching on October 15.

Over the last few years, smartphone OEMs like LG and OnePlus managed to beat Google by launching smartphones with the latest iteration of Android out of the box. Usually, Google launches its Pixel range of phones with the latest Android version, but that's changing now. This year too, it will be the OnePlus 7T that will run Android 10 out of the box and it's coming on September 26 itself. The OnePlus 7T Pro that's launching on October 10 will also run Android 10 out of the box, so two phones ahead of Google Pixel 4 series will boot Android 10.
