Chinese smartphone brand, OnePlus, is now rolling out OxygenOS 9.5.8 update to the OnePlus 7 Pro. This is the fourth update to the smartphone since its release just one month ago. While the previous updates focused on improving the camera performance, OxygenOS 9.5.8 update comes with general bug fixes related to touchscreen, system and pop-up selfie camera. With the OxygenOS 9.5.8 update, the company is also adding May 2019 security patches to the OnePlus 7 Pro. After the OxygenOS 9.5.7 update, I noticed a slight change in the volume levels while on a call, and thankfully, OnePlus fixed the issue with this latest update. The latest update is currently rolling out to all the OnePlus 7 Pro users across the globe in a phased manner, meaning it might take a few days to reach your phone depending on your region.
OxygenOS 9.5.8 for OnePlus 7 Pro: What’s New?
OnePlus has added fixed to three departments of the smartphone- System, Phone and Camera. Starting with System, the company has optimised touchscreen sensitivity and also optimised compatibility for third-party USB Type-C headphones other than the OnePlus Type-C Bullets. OnePlus has finally updated the security patch to May 2019 which is still underwhelming considering we’re reaching the end of June. Lastly, there are some general bug fixes and improvements made to the overall system by the company.
Moving on, the OnePlus 7 Pro offers better audio quality while on a phone call after the OxygenOS 9.5.8 update. And finally, the company has fixed issue to the pop-up selfie camera bug which did not open automatically when an incoming call is appearing on the lock screen.
As mentioned above, the update is currently rolling out all the OnePlus 7 Pro in a phased manner. OnePlus rolls out every update in a phased manner so that the installed users can give feedback to the brand if any major bug is affecting the device. Our review unit has got the latest OxygenOS 9.5.8 update and we did not notice any critical bug for now.
OnePlus Drastically Improves Camera Performance of OnePlus 7 Pro
Nearly ten days ago, OnePlus rolled out the OxygenOS 9.5.7 update to the OnePlus 7 Pro which arrived with a plethora of improvements to the cameras. The OnePlus 7 Pro features capable camera hardware, but the software tuning wasn’t up to the mark by the company which irked a lot of users as the phone is priced close to the Galaxy S10 series.
However, with the first three OxygenOS updates post the release, OnePlus has drastically improved the camera performance on the OnePlus 7 Pro. The handset now captures way better images as compared to when it was launched last month. However, we believe that there’s more room for improvement in the camera department and the company will surely improve the performance with future updates.
