OnePlus has earlier confirmed that it does not want to change its product launch strategy, which means that the OnePlus 6T's launch is around the corner. It's been over close to four months since the arrival of OnePlus 6, and by now, OnePlus must've finalised the design of the 6T. A new leak of OnePlus 6T's retail box has revealed some key features of the handset, including the in-display fingerprint scanner and a waterdrop notch display like the Oppo F9 Pro. This leak seems to be a legit one as the retail box packaging is quite similar to the earlier launched OnePlus devices.
OnePlus 6T to Feature In-Display Fingerprint Scanner
As you can clearly see, at the bottom of the drawing on the box, there's a small fingerprint icon (identical to Vivo's in-display fingerprint scanner teasers), and we can clearly see the 'Unlock The Speed' text out there. So the OnePlus 6T will likely arrive with an in-display fingerprint scanner, something which we haven't seen on any OnePlus device in the past.
While launching the OnePlus 5T, the company clearly stated that it doesn't want to move the fingerprint scanner to the rear side because most of the OnePlus users prefer it on the front side itself. However, to achieve better screen-to-body ratio, the company forcefully embedded the biometric sensor on the rear side. But with the OnePlus 6T, the company is all set to bring the sensor to the front side, although it will be embedded inside the display.
A Waterdrop Notch on the Front?
With Oppo launching the R17 devices and F9 devices with a waterdrop notch on the front, it's the time for OnePlus to make use of the same notch design. The OnePlus 6 looks identical to the Oppo R15 from the front, but the rear design differs a bit. The leaked pictures, posted on social media portal Weibo also suggests the device could feature a tiny notch.
The pictures posted on the site showed a white coloured box with OnePlus 6T written over it and inside the box, there was a blueprint image of the phone.
Similar Hardware Underneath
The OnePlus 6T might feature a different notch design from the front, but the internal hardware is likely to remain the same. The device will still be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipset, coupled with up to 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. It might pack the same dual rear camera setup, albeit with some minor improvement.
Waterproof Rating and Other Improvements
The OnePlus 6 arrived with glass back, but it lacked proper waterproofing properties. However, the 6T is expected to come with proper water resistance properties. We might see a bigger battery this time around and with Oppo using its VOOC charging technology on mid-range smartphones, OnePlus might introduce its next-generation charging technology.
