OnePlus 6T Launch Likely as OnePlus Wants to Stick to its Current Product Cycle

OnePlus launched its 2018 flagship, the OnePlus 6 on May 16 in London. Now people are already wondering whether this will be succeeded by a OnePlus 6T model in the next six months. Though it is too early to speculate about the OnePlus 6T, but the Chinese manufacturer’s track record of releasing two devices a year hasn’t changed so far. OnePlus confirmed the same in a recent AMA revealing the company is not changing its two phones a year strategy. The company held a “OnePlus 6 and Bullets Wireless

” AMA or an Ask Me Anything session on its forum page, and some of the eager consumers wanted to know whether OnePlus 6T was happening on or not. A user came forward with the question whether the company will be sticking to its two device launch a year or will just be the OnePlus 6 this year.

And to this, the OnePlus CEO Carl Pei said, “We don’t have any plans to change our strategy at this moment.” This means the company will not be backing out of its two devices a year release cycle and we are probably going to get a OnePlus 6T this year.

Right now, the OnePlus 6 is still fresh and rumours around a possible OnePlus 6T haven’t really begun. Still, it is safe to assume the OnePlus 6 successor will follow the same design language with some minor updates. The phone will continue to sport a notched display and the glass design will likely stay as well.

OnePlus has also been praised for the speed of its Face Unlock feature, but the facial recognition technology isn’t as secure as Apple’s Face ID. The soon to be launched Xiaomi Mi 8 is expected to be the first Android smartphone to feature 3D facial recognition technology. It will be interesting to see whether OnePlus tries to emulate Xiaomi and adopt this into 6T.

One of the other talking points of OnePlus 6 has been the lack of wireless charging despite its glass rear panel. This has people quipping about the OnePlus 6T featuring wireless charging instead. Still, the company hasn’t explicitly confirmed the launch of OnePlus 6T and one can’t be certain until the company officially announces the same.
