While the OnePlus 6 is yet to see the light of the day, but several of its details including key features and specifications have leaked over past few weeks. The latest rumour suggests the flagship device will be equipped with Cat. 16 Gigabit LTE connectivity to deliver blazing fast speeds. The feature essentially means the OnePlus 6 is capable of providing throughput of up to 1,000 Mbps (1 Gbps), provided there is 4G availability. This is possible with the new Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC

which will support a Cat. 16 LTE in the X20 LTE modem. The new modem supports downlink speeds of up to 1.2Gbps and uplink speeds of 150Mbps.

If the rumour indeed turns out to be true, the OnePlus 6 will be the fastest handset in the OnePlus family so far. The OnePlus 3 and OnePlus 3T had a slow Cat. 6 LTE modem which could reach a max speed of 300 Mbps, while the OnePlus 5 and the OnePlus 5T supported a Cat. 12 LTE modem with a maximum speed of 600 Mbps. This news is reported by xda-developers, citing sources close to them have revealed it to them.

It is worth pointing out that faster modem doesn’t necessarily mean higher internet speeds unless you are on a compatible network. This means you can’t utilise the full potential of Cat.16 LTE support if you don’t get good coverage of 4G LTE in your region.

Earlier reports have indicated the upcoming OnePlus 6 is similar to iPhone X in terms of design complete with bezel-less display and a screen notch on the top. The device will also have a glass front and back that will facilitate wireless charging.

The OnePlus 6 is expected to be sporting a 6-inch Optic AMOLED panel which will have a Full HD+ resolution and 19:9 aspect ratio. Inside, the OnePlus 6 will pack the Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 octa-core processor, house an Adreno 630 GPU paired with 6GB and 8GB RAM options.

The OnePlus 6 will probably come with a 3,000mAh+ battery, with battery size ranging somewhere in between 3,300mAh and 3,500mAh. Android Oreo will come pre-installed on the device, while OxygenOS running on top of Google’s operating system. Other details of the upcoming device are expected to surface in the upcoming weeks.
