OnePlus is seeding a new Open Beta update to the OnePlus 5 and 5T smartphones. The former is receiving OxygenOS Open Beta 10, while the latter gets bumped to OxygenOS Open Beta 8. However, they both bring same features to the smartphones. In this beta update, OnePlus has added three new features to the OnePlus launcher app. The OnePlus launcher now offers support for editing dynamic icons such as weather, clock and calendar. Post the update, users can also add Toolbox Card in the shelf, and the company added hidden space in the app drawer. The new OTA update also brings May 2018 security patch fixes.

Speaking of other changes, the OnePlus Switch application has received several fixes such as optimised user interface for backup & restore, Optimised logic for the time remaining and General bug fixes and stability improvements. The default messaging app now offers Group MMS feature as well.

That said, these features have been added to the latest OxygenOS Open Beta build, not the stable version. These builds are sometimes not as stable as official OTA updates, so keep that in mind before flashing. The new Open Beta build is based on Android 8.1 Oreo itself.

If you’re already on the OnePlus Open Beta ROM, you’ll receive the new build as an OTA. If you’re not an Open Beta user, you’ve to flash the ROM manually first, of which the required files can be downloaded here: http://downloads.oneplus.com/. Once after flashing the Open Beta ROM, you’ll only receive the Open Beta OTAs, not the official stable OTA updates.

In other news, OnePlus will be releasing its next-generation flagship smartphone, the OnePlus 6 on May 17 in India. Right out of the box, the OnePlus 6 is eligible for Android P Beta, so users can manually install the Beta software and test it. There’s no news on when the OnePlus 5 and 5T will receive Android P, but it might happen by the end of this year.
