OnePlus can’t seem to stay away from the limelight. Its founder, Carl Pei and his team just took part in a Reddit AMA (Ask Me Anything) session before launching the OnePlus 2 later this month. The company has been quite regular at teasing what it has in store for the launch and has been revealing the specifications one by one.
The Reddit AMA session resulted in quite a few features of the upcoming smartphone getting revealed. The OnePlus 2 will have a smaller footprint than its predecessor. This was shown by posting an image of the OnePlus One and stating that there was a OnePlus 2 below the same. The smartphone will pack in a 3,300 mAh battery, which is more than what the OnePlus One had on offer (3,100mAh).
OnePlus further stated that the fingerprint sensor will be embedded in a physical button. The camera will have something interesting in store but the details about that haven’t been revealed.
There have been rumours about the company launching three variants of the device and company has just confirmed it. The variants will be based upon the regional networks but will have identical specifications. The Asia/Europe model will support WCDMA bands 1/2/5/8 and FDD-LTE bands 1/3/5/7/8/20. India currently has the FDD-LTE Band 3 and as a result, the OnePlus 2 will support 4G in India.
There will be a model for North America and one for China in addition to the above model. Post the launch of OnePlus 2, OnePlus One will continue to be on sale. It will be priced below the $450 mark and has everyone awaiting the launch.
