TENAA Listing of the Nokia X Reveals Complete Specifications

HMD Global is set to launch its new Nokia X in China next week. Touted to be Nokia’s new mid-range offering, the smartphone is also the first Nokia branded device to embrace the notched display. With few days to its launch, the Nokia X has made its way to TENAA. The Nokia X with model number TA-1099 has been certified by TENAA, China’s telecom regulatory body. This is the same model number that was listed when the Nokia X passed 3C certification in China in April. The certification reveals certain design elements and key hardware specifications, alongside the renders of the smartphone.

Nokia X

As per the listing, the Nokia X measures 147.2 x 70.98 x 7.99 millimetres and weighs 151 grams. It features an aluminium casing with rounded edges and a glass back similar to the Nokia 8 Sirocco. The phone sports a 5.8-inch Full HD+ display panel with 1080 x 2280 resolution, and a screen aspect ratio of 19:9.

Under the hood, there’s a 1.8GHz octa-core processor powering the device. It’s believed the Nokia X is powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 636 platform. The Chinese certification website reveals the device will come in three RAM/memory configurations: 3GB RAM + 32GB storage, 4GB RAM + 64GB storage and 6GB RAM + 64GB storage.

The Nokia X is seen sporting a dual camera setup on the rear, however, TENAA lists only a single 16MP sensor. There’s another 16MP sensor on the front for selfies and video calling. Surprisingly, there’s no mention of Carl ZEISS optics, which were hinted by several reports in the past. But the images posted on the certification portal reveal the presence of dual cameras at the back though. So, it' safe to assume the Nokia X will have dual cameras on the rear.

Furthermore, the Nokia X is listed with a 3000mAh battery. The phone will run on Android Oreo 8.1 and will be available in a range of colours including Blue, Black, Silver and White.

However, confusion remains as to the exact name of the phone, with reports hinting it to be called Nokia X, Nokia X6 or Nokia X (2018). Anyway, everything will be clear once the Nokia X launch in China on May 16. The phone is not expected to launch in the Indian market anytime soon.
