Following the launch the Nokia 6 (2018), HMD Global is expected to unveil a couple of Nokia smartphones at the upcoming Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona. Just yesterday, HMD Global’s Chief Product Officer, Juho Sarvikas, announced the company would be present at the MWC to introduce some awesome products. "Sorry for radio silence. Been super busy planning #MWC2018. Please expect it to be awesome," Sarvikas tweeted yesterday.

Today, HMD Global sent out invites for its MWC event, which will take place on February 25th at the Barcelona Museum of Contemporary Art. While company’s invite doesn’t mention the name of the devices to be unveiled at its event, reports indicate the company will announce the flagship Nokia 9 and a new edition Nokia 8.

The invite basically reads, “Join us at the home of Nokia phones for an intimate and exclusive unveiling of the next chapter of our story“.

The Nokia 9 will be featuring ultra-thin bezels and trendy 18:9 display. The screen itself will be a 5.5-inch with 2K resolution. The device is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 SoC, coupled with 6GB of RAM and up to 128GB of storage. While the leaked specifications show Snapdragon 835 SoC instead of the latest Snapdragon 845 processor, rest of the specs confirms that it will be the company’s flagship device.

The rumours suggest the Nokia 9 will pack dual rear camera setup with Zeiss optics. It is expected to use a 12MP + 13MP image sensors as part of the rear combo. The updated Nokia Camera app already revealed that HMD Global plans to add 2x optical zoom and wide-angle mode to its smartphone lineup this year.

The FCC listing of the device had revealed that there would be a 5MP selfie shooter on the front. The flagship is expected to come powered by a 3250mAh battery with the fast charging technology and USB Type-C port. The phone will be running on Android 8.0 Oreo operating system.

However, nothing has been confirmed by the company yet. We will have to wait until the Nokia’s event at the upcoming MWC in Barcelona, so stay tuned for regular updates.
