HMD Global made a comeback in the smartphone business last year, after keeping silent for more than three years. The Finland based phone manufacturer launched a series of smartphones one after the other, the recent ones being the Nokia 3.1 Plus, Nokia 5.1 Plus and Nokia 6.1 Plus. HMD Global launched the Nokia 3.1, Nokia 5.1 and Nokia 6.1 months ago, and now the company has slashed the prices of all the three phones. Additionally, HMD has also reduced the price of the company's most stylish smartphone - Nokia 8 Sirocco - by Rs 13,000.

HMD mid this week announced that the Nokia 3.1, Nokia 5.1 and Nokia 6.1 would be selling with up to Rs 1500 discount. After the price cut, customers in India will get the Nokia 3.1 for Rs 10,999 after Rs 1000 price drop. This price is for the 4GB RAM model of the phone which was launched for Rs 11,999 in India. The Nokia 6.1 Plus was originally launched for Rs 16999 for 3GB RAM model while the 4GB RAM version costs Rs 18,999. After the price drop of Rs 1500, the Nokia 6.1 Plus can now be purchased for Rs 13,499 (3GB RAM) and 16,499 (4GB RAM). Lastly, the Nokia 5.1 Plus also gets Rs 1500 price cut after which the smartphone will now be available for Rs 10,999.

Nokia 8 Sirocco Gets Rs 13,000 Price Cut in India

All the three aforementioned price cuts are great, but the best one is on the Nokia 8 Sirocco. The Nokia 8 Sirocco was launched in India earlier this year for a price tag of Rs 49,999. But now, after the Rs 13,000 price cut the customers will be able to buy the phone for Rs Rs 36,999 in India. There is no doubt that it is a great move by Nokia before the launch of the OnePlus 6T, which according to rumours will start retailing at Rs 37,999 in India.

At the time of launch of the Nokia 8 Sirocco most people complained about its premium pricing. Now that the price of the Nokia phone has been reduced, is the Nokia 8 Sirocco worth buying for Rs 36,999 or should you wait for the OnePlus 6T launching on Monday, October 29?

Should You Buy the Nokia 8 Sirocco for Rs 36,999?

All Nokia phones are great looking, but the Nokia 8 Sirocco is the most beautiful phone HMD has launched so far. The gorgeous design and the curves on the sides and the pOLED display have the Nokia 8 Sirocco one of the best phones as far as the design and display is concerned. In fact, it won't be an exaggeration to say that the Nokia 8 Sirocco is all about the design. So, if you're someone looking for a phone that looks more than just stunning, go for the Nokia 8 Sirocco, and if you're also ready to pay Rs 36,999 for it, go for the Nokia phone.

But, if you are very specific about the performance and want a phone that's smooth to run graphics heavy games and can tackle the day to day use without any lag, you can wait until Monday for the OnePlus 6T which will pack a much powerful smartphone compared to the Nokia phone. In fact, if you're ready to pay the money and can't wait for a few days, you can also go for the Honor 10 or even the OnePlus 6. Compared to the other premium phones in the market right now, the Nokia 8 Sirocco runs old hardware inside. The smartphone is powered by almost two-year-old Snapdragon 835 chipset, which is one of the downsides on the Nokia phone. Other phones in the similar price tag come packed with Snapdragon 845 chipset. Not just the same priced phones, even the cheaper Poco F1, which comes for Rs 20,999, is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 845 chip.

The Nokia 8 Sirocco has both goods and bads. The smartphone comes packed with a gorgeous pOLED display that curves at the sides, which in turn makes the phone have great viewing angles. The Nokia phone comes with slim bezels on the top and bottom. But, despite thin bezels, the Nokia 8 Sirocco comes with a traditional 16:9 display, which is disappointing to see in a 2018 phone, now that most phones, even the mid-range ones come with either 18:9 or 19:9 aspect ratio. The Nokia 8 Sirocco also packs a much smaller display compared to its market competitors. These days phone makers are concentrating on building the phone with more than 6-inch screen, for Nokia 8 Sirocco HMD decided to stick to a 5.5-inch Quad HD pOLED display. The screen of the Nokia phone is quite vivid and sharp.

One of the good news for Nokia fans is that the phone runs stock Android, which means, users will get pure, Android experience and there will be no bloatware. Much like all other Nokia phones, the 8 Sirocco also runs Android One software inside.

Overall, if you're a hard-core Nokia fan and looking for a stunning looking smartphone, this is definitely the right time to get the Nokia 8 Sirocco. But, if you want to buy a phone with a big display, fast performance and best camera, the Nokia 8 Sirocco may not prove to be the best choice for you.

We suggest you to wait for the OnePlus 6T instead which is set to launch in India on October 30. Or in case you can't wait, there are other options like OnePlus 6, Honor 10, or even the much cheaper Poco F1. In case if you can wait for longer, rumours say that Xiaomi will bring the Mi Mix 3 to India very soon. In India, we expect the Mi Mix 3 to also be priced around Rs 35,000, and for that price, the Xiaomi phone can be a threat to its competitors.
