HMD Global has started pushing the stable Android 9 Pie update to the Nokia 8 smartphone. Notably, it's a delayed release as HMD was supposed to roll it out by the end of November. Since the company ran into some issues, it pushed a Pie Beta update last week, and now, it's being HMD Global has been on a roll lately as the company only recently launched the Nokia 8.1 and the handset has already gone up to the extent to become the best smartphone launched by HMD this year. Finally. HMD has recently updated several Nokia phones to Google’s latest Android operating system, but the wait has been a really long one for the Nokia 8 users. In the tweet, Sarvikas mentioned, “Enjoy the festivities with another fresh piece of ? from us - this time on Nokia 8! The phased rollout of #Android 9 Pie for #Nokia8 starts today.”

Nokia 8 Gets Android 9 Pie Update

The wait is finally over. The year-old Nokia 8 is now getting the Android 9 Pie update via OTA. HMD has confirmed that the rollout is happening in a phased manner. This means that some Nokia 8 can get the Android 9 Pie update right now, while others might need to wait for a little longer. But the Android 9 Pie update will come to all Nokia 8 users, according to HMD Global.

As far as the software experience is concerned, HMD has been really committed to delivering the best stock Android interface to its users. Most Nokia phones are powered by Google’s Android One software which means the phones are bloatware free and eligible to get regular software updates, improvements and bug fixes.

Nokia Phones Upgraded to Pie Recently

To recollect, back in November this year HMD had promised that Android 9 Pie would come to both Nokia 8 and Nokia 8 Sirocco very soon, but sadly the rollout was delayed for some unspecified software issues. Now that the Nokia 8 has been officially upgraded to Android 9 Pie, we expect the Nokia 8 Sirocco to get upgraded to the software very soon, however, as of now, there are no official words about the timeline of Pie coming to Sirocco.

As noted earlier, HMD Global is very committed to upgrading not just the new phones but also the old Nokia devices. The Nokia 8 is the fifth phone from HMD to get upgraded to Android 9 Pie in the last couple of months. Some of the Nokia phones that have been upgraded to Pie lately include Nokia 7 Plus, Nokia 6 (2018), Nokia 6.1 Plus and Nokia 7.1. The recently launched Nokia 8.1 is the first phone from the company to come with Android 9 Pike out-of-the-box.
