Launched in September this year, Motorola One Power is soon going to be upgraded to Google’s latest OS Android 9 Pie. The smartphone has been spotted running Pie in a Geekbench listing, which otherwise means that Motorola is soon going to upgrade the One Power to Pie. The timeline of the rollout, however, is yet to be revealed by the company. But now that it has appeared on Geekbench, we expect the Pie rollout to happen in another month. Currently, Motorola One Power has been launched with Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box.
Besides the Android 9 Pie, the Geekbench listing also shows the Motorola One Power scores 1274 in single-core and 4508 in multi-core, which is decent for a phone at this pricing. As noted, as of now, Motorola hasn’t confirmed the coming of Pie to One Power but considering it has been spotted on Geekbench, this makes it close to official. We can expect Android 9 Pie to come to Motorola One Power by the end of this year.
Android Pie Coming Soon to One Power
With Android Pie, Motorola One Power will get several improvements. Launched in October by Google, Android 9 Pie will bring a range of new features like new navigation gestures, adaptive battery and brightness, app actions, slices, improved security features, digital wellbeing, among others. Android 9 Pie first hit the Google Pixel devices and Essential phone. It then reached smartphones from other manufacturers like OnePlus 6, Nokia 7 Plus and some of the Sony Xperia phones as well. Android 9 Pie is now coming to a lot more phones as well. For instance, the recently launched OnePlus 6T has been launched with Android 9 Pie out-of-the-box.
According to the recent Android distribution graph, Android 9 Pie is still in around 1% phones in the market. But, in the months to come, we expect the percentage to increase. HMD Global has upgraded two of its most popular smartphones, the Nokia 6.1 and Nokia 6.1 Plus to Pie this week. The company has also confirmed that Android 9 Pie will be coming to all the Nokia Android One smartphones including the newly launched Nokia 3.1 Plus and Nokia 5.1 Plus.
